About

Ooh! Look. Shiny! is my writing experiment to explore some things I love. One thing I love is sci fi and genre television, so I also co-host Tuning in to SciFi TV, a podcast where we discuss the current sci fi and genre shows on TV.

I’m also a writer and producer for The Scapecast, a podcast about Farscape, an awesome TV series created by the Jim Henson Company.  We’ve even won a few awards for our creative efforts.

My other fannish obsession is Pearl Jam. I’ve traveled to places near (Albany, Buffalo, NYC), far (Austin, Memphis, Seattle, Las Vegas) and really far (Mexico City, Rome, Vancouver, Newfoundland) to see them perform live. I’ve made amazing memories with friends and family all along the way.

When not doing geeky pursuits, I work as an information technology consultant. By education, I have a BS in chemical engineering and a MS in Technical Communication. In my first career, I worked as a manufacturing engineer and manager for Procter and Gamble making baby diapers.  I love to solve problems and see the results in finished projects. My second career as an IT consultant continues using those skills and more.

After living in many different places all over the US for the last twenty years, I returned to my home town of Fairport, on the Erie Canal, near Rochester, NY. I walk to our local library and farmer’s market as I did as a kid, though today I can check online if the library books and DVDs are available and the farmers email the produce they have available.  It’s the best mixture of the traditional and the modern.
